Gallery Opening Reception - January 26th
Join us Friday, January 26th from 5:30 to 7:30 pm to celebrate the opening of two exciting exhibitions:
"But Now Am Found" a solo show by Cara Kansala
and "Reinventing the Norse" featuring works by Joanne B Kaar (Caithness, Scotland) and April Harvey (Bay Bulls, NL).
The Opening Reception takes place at the Craft Council Gallery, 2nd floor of the Devon House Craft Centre, 59 Duckworth Street. Refreshments will be served and everyone is welcome.
In the Main gallery, "But Now Am Found" features a celebratory new collection by Newfoundland artist Cara Kansala. Alongside paintings in her vibrant signature style, Kansala unveils a celebratory new collection of sculptures, each the transformation of an object salvaged from the brink of abandon.
In the Annex gallery, Reinventing the Norse presents the works of textile artists April Harvey and Joanne B Kaar. Both women find inspiration in Norse history: Kaar uses knitting to explore the link between Norse craft traditions and the histories of outport Newfoundland, while Harvey reinterprets Norse mythology in her large scale embroideries – with a decidedly feminist twist.
Exhibitions run January 27 – March 3, 2018
Gallery hours: Tuesday – Saturday 10:00 am – 5:00 pm
Admission is free and all are welcome
