Comfort & Joy
Annual Holiday Exhibition

Comfort & Joy is a juried, multi media exhibition featuring a variety of works inspired by the season. You are invited to enter works that will help our visitors feel the warmth of cozy homes and the crispness of a winter walk.

This year craftspeople are invited to create work that celebrates Comfort & Joy through harmony.  Harmony can be achieved through finding balance between contrasting elements, showing how differences complement each other, through repetition and rhythm amongst many other ways.  How essential fine craft and visual art could be if it helps us share comfort and joy through harmony!

The exhibits theme allows room for work that reflects general seasonal and thematic threads – works that reflect the season rather than “Christmas” are more unique and saleable – please avoid commercialized Christmas symbols or images. Think whimsical or serious, contemporary or traditional. Special dishes for sumptuous treats, Christmas socks to fill or wear, or unique ornaments for the tree. Cozy scarves and sparkling jewellery, furniture to warm the home, and many other objects and cherished gifts made by hand that can become a part of fondest holiday memories.

This year we will be holding a special PRE-show at the annual Christmas Craft Fair. This pre-show intends to provide more exposure for one-of-a-kind items produced by the crafts community and also to reach a new market for the show.

Download the application here. This is a digital application, please save to your computer to complete, and hit the Submit button when it is filled out. Deadline for Comfort & Joy applications is November 1, 2017.

The Craft Council Gallery is St. John’s premier space for the presentation of fine craft. The Gallery welcomes proposals from craftspeople/artists, curators, cultural/community groups and organizations. A broad range of visual art is considered but the Gallery’s priority is craft and craft based art. We are equally interested in proposals that highlight your exquisite skillsets, as works and concepts that push the boundaries of craft.

Deadline for applications for 2019 programming is Friday, December 15th at 4 pm.

Below you'll find resources for gallery shows.
