Light & Shadow, Wood & Cloth
Start Date: 2012-02-04End Date: 2012-03-11
Poetic images, textures and function combine in this show of woodwork and textiles by Jessica Waterman, an emerging talent.
Gander-born Jessica Waterman combines textile techniques such as quilting and dyeing with her own photography to create textile compositions for the wall. She retreats to forgotten places by the side of the road to uncover images of wear and tear, the burnt, raw and resilient.
Drawing on her skills as a carpenter and training as an artist, Waterman recycles molding to create formal wall-hung compositions and functional benches. An interest in light and shadow characterizes both the textiles and woodwork.
