MMSB Supports Natalie Austin
Natalie Austin’s new studio in Carbonear is a busy place. Her workbench is covered with works in progress, new equipment is humming smoothly and the stack of finished pieces is growing steadily. It’s Craft Fair season, and Natalie will be ready.
Natalie’s jewellery is made from recycled copper. Because of this, she has been recognized and supported by the Multi Materials Stewardship Board (MMSB). The MMSB sees that Natalie’s pieces shine a new light on recycling as a process that can create something beautiful rather than just diverting waste. Financial support from the Craft Council’s Studio Start Up Fund and from the MMSB has enabled Natalie to establish her studio relatively debt free.
“I am very excited to have received these two grants - one from the Craft Council and the other from the MMSB”, says Natalie. “They have shown me that my work is respected by both the environmental and the arts community.”
Natalie’s work can been found at the Craft Council Shop and at the upcoming Christmas Craft Fair in St. John’s. See Craft Fair details HERE.
