ABOUT the CRAFT COUNCIL of NEWFOUNDLAND and LABRADOR
Our Vision:
Craft is a vibrant, valued part of Newfoundland and Labrador's contemporary life recognized worldwide for excellence, tradition, and innovation. The Craft Council of Newfoundland and Labrador supports and celebrates the integrity of the handcrafted object, the creativity of the maker, and the viability and visibility of our industry.
Our Logo:
The Craft Council logo is reminiscent of a tapestry. Tapestries are both seamless and multicoloured, and represent harmony and a common purpose. Just as the many crafts represented by the Craft Council are distinct from each other, so the individual components are quite different in colour, strength and tone. Like the craftspeople of the province, the elements of the logo are bound together by the Craft Council.
The waves represent the waters that surround and link all parts of this province. The cresting wave represents the ever-changing boundary, the pushing element that keeps craft current.
The hand
signifies the main tool of the craftsperson.
The Ulu represents all tools, the inclusion and representation of Labrador and the traditions from which all craft springs.
The single column represents the strength of the Craft Council to successfully support its members in all their varied
endeavours.
